When I first saw the movie I thought it was showing the launch of the Sputnik 1, which was when the Soviet Union beat us in the race of putting the first artificial Earth satellite into orbit. One of my favorite scence is when Katherine is running in the rain after using the "colored" restroom which is half a mile away, and soaked comes into a room of desks seating white males and is called out by her boss for not being present when he needs her. following the characters through the challenges they experience. The character develop was marvelous, both Caucasian and African-American. It does indeed portray the state of the country during the riots which still is shocking to see even though it is a movie. This movie is loosely based on the truth yet regardless, it is one of the best movies I've seen.thus I purchased the DVD so I could watch it repeatedly. ![]()
